Shanklin Beach

Shanklin is the nearest beach to here. It is a sandy beach with a promenade and car park located on the seafront for easy access. There are steps all the way along, otherwise there is a ramp right at the end of the beach that leads down to the sand. Great for children as it has a gentle entry into the sea with pools that appear at low tide. There are deck chairs and kayaks for hire. There is entertainment, restaurants and cafes along the seafront. Head to the far end of the beach if you prefer a quieter and wilder beach.

There are wonderful walks all over the Island and some great walks right here on our doorstep. We are situated right on the red squirrel cycle trail which is equally good for walking as it is for cycling. There is a delightful 30 minute walk up to Freemantle gate, with beautiful views of the downs and the rolling hills down to Appuldurcombe House , it is a great spot for a picnic! A coastal path runs around the whole of the Island and is easy to follow and can be picked up from numermous locations – the west of the island is more wild and rugged whilst the east is more sheltered. Luccombe chine and Niton landslip are some less well known routes and beautiful to explore. Click on the website link for more information.
